Ground Beef Stroganoff
Yield: 4-6 servings
Cook Time: About 15 minutes.
Tips: For a creamier stroganoff, additional sour cream may be added.
Suggestion: Delicious served with a salad, vegetable and/or a side of bread.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 to 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef bouillon or broth
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons sour cream (at room temperature)
Directions
Brown ground beef in skillet over medium heat just until pink is gone, stirring frequently to break up into bite-size chunks (about 7 minutes). Drain grease from skillet, then sprinkle meat with salt
and pepper to taste. Add onions to meat and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a separate saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter. Whisk flour into butter, then gradually stir in beef broth, whisking continuously and cooking until thickened and smooth. Pour sauce into beef and stir. Cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Stir in sour cream and heat through but do not boil (about 1-2 minutes). Serve over noodles or rice.
